A Testament to Persistence

When you want to build something (and you want it to be great), all you need is persistence.

Found Object Monsters

When Joseph Carnevale arranged some traffic barrels into a hitch-hiking monster, he ignited a fad that will amuse us and drive municipal road workers completely mad. While many college grads fondly remember building sculptures from found objects (perhaps on top of our passed-out classmates), Carnevale inspires us with artistic flair and an easily reproducible subject.

Fluid Sculpture

The Fluid Sculpture is a woven straw through which colored liquid is pushed in order to produce a wonderful visual effect.

Giant White Glove

I am so happy to have found Evan Roth's and Ben Engebreth's brilliantly absurd White Glove Tracking.

On May 4th, 2007, we asked internet users to help isolate Michael Jackson's white glove in all 10,060 frames of his nationally televised landmark performance of Billy Jean. 72 hours later 125,000 gloves had been located. wgt_data_v1.txt (listed below) is the culmination of data collected.

Tim Knapen added the Mickey Mouse glove effect, and the rest is history.

Cyriak

Vice has posted about Cyriak, a superb artist from G.B. Cyriak's animation mix features his outstanding animated gifs set to a Pythonesque synth.

Counter-Projection

I love the street art projectionists. In this video, the Graffiti Research Lab counter-attacks the commercial video sand-blasting that we are increasingly subjected to as we drive and walk around town.

Just the other day I had to whistle and make a horrible, humming ruckuss in order to shake the ads beaming at me from three feet away as I pumped gas. It drives me that crazy. By being at least as annoying as the ad I am presented with, I can do my part to encourage businesses to stop annoying their customers.
